Stock Condition Surveys
Build a reliable picture of property condition to support maintenance, investment and asset management.
OVERVIEW
What are stock condition surveys?
A stock condition survey records the condition and key characteristics of a property and its components. For organisations managing housing portfolios, consistent survey data helps create a clearer understanding of maintenance needs and future investment priorities.
What does the service involve?
The survey scope is agreed with the client and may include the age, condition and expected remaining life of building elements and components, together with relevant property attributes. Information is captured in a consistent format so that individual property findings can be reviewed alongside wider portfolio data. Surveys are generally visual and non-intrusive unless a different scope is agreed.
WHY IT MATTERS

THE PROCESS
What to expect
We agree the scope and requirements with you before the work begins.
- Agree the data fields, condition categories, access arrangements and reporting format.
- Undertake the property inspection and record components in scope.
- Capture observations, condition information and supporting notes or photographs as agreed.
- Submit the completed survey data and reports in the agreed format.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Who can benefit?
Housing associations, local authorities, social landlords, property managers, investors and organisations responsible for residential portfolios.
A stock condition survey is not normally a full structural survey or intrusive investigation. Concealed defects may not be identifiable during a visual inspection and should be referred for specialist investigation where appropriate.
