ENERGEM SERVICE 02
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
A recognised snapshot of a property’s energy efficiency, with recommendations for improvement.
OVERVIEW
What are energy performance certificates (EPCs)?
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) provides an energy-efficiency rating for a property. In England and Wales, the rating is shown on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient), helping people understand the property’s energy performance.
What does the service involve?
An accredited energy assessor visits the property, gathers information about its construction, insulation, heating, hot water, lighting and relevant features, and uses approved assessment software to produce the certificate. The EPC includes an energy-efficiency rating, an environmental impact rating and recommendations that may help improve performance.
WHY IT MATTERS
Benefits of energy performance certificates (epcs)
Good information helps property owners and organisations understand what they have, identify where attention may be needed and plan the next steps with greater confidence.
- A consistent, recognised way to communicate a property’s energy performance.
- Practical recommendations that can help owners consider potential improvements.
- Useful information for buyers, tenants, landlords and property managers.
- Support for property records and relevant legal or letting requirements.
THE PROCESS
What to expect
We agree the scope and requirements with you before the work begins.
- Arrange access and confirm the property details.
- An assessor inspects and records relevant features and measurements.
- The information is entered into approved assessment software.
- The EPC is lodged on the appropriate register and made available to the client.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Who can benefit?
Homeowners, landlords, letting agents, estate agents, housing providers and property managers.
An EPC is based on a standard assessment methodology and available evidence. It is not a detailed building survey, guarantee of actual energy use or a quotation for improvement works.
